"Grass Shack in Paradise"

Background (1940 - 2009)
Gloria was born in Santa Monica, California and spent most of her adult life along the Southern California coast. By an early age she knew that design, lines, color, and texture would be part of her life. Art became her strongest interest. Her formal art education began at Long Beach College and continued in Austin, Texas at the Laguna Gloria Art Institute and the Elisabet Ney Museum of Sculpturing. Most recently Gloria studied at the Laguna College of Art & Design in Laguna Beach, Ca. Gloria suddenly passed away on August 22, 2009.

Technique

Gloria traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Hawaii, Asia, and Europe. All of her compositions have come from her travel photos. She carefully selected the interesting images and eliminated the clutter. Color and brush strokes were equally important. She used the old masters technique of applying three layers of paint on her canvases.
